Well, the 2006 WWATS Rally and Hunts are over and were a huge success. We had over 300 prizes and 25 metal detectors that were won. Lots of silver, gold coins and prizes made everyone take home something. Our participants were twice as many in both women's hunt and kids hunt this year and larger in the free hunt and in the pay hunt, with over 250 in attendance for the weekend. We had live music during the Friday's free meal and night hunt. The river was up and running and so prospectors had good finds as well. Also had a great clue hunt with GPS this year and 30 or more participated in it. Gave three metal detectors away in the kids hunt, some 15 gold coins from half ounce down were given away during the weekend and lots of silver coins buried and given away in the pay hunt from silver dollar and silver rounds down. The fellowship and laughs at ole' treasure stories at the Campfire Gathering Saturday night was the best part for me, and in all we had great weather and a great time this year. Seeing some of the very small children win prizes and finding their first coin with a metal detector was the best thrill of all. Our discussion at the Rally of what is happening with our hobby and the possibilities of securing a stronger future for our children to enjoy the same hobbies was well received and participated in on Saturday at this event. WWATS wants to express their sincere thanks to all that donated their time and items to make this event a success. Without your kind hearts in this, it would not be possible. A special thanks again to all of you. Photos will be on our website at www.wwats.org shortly so you can see just how much fun and great scenery at the K River Campgrounds www.kriver.com you missed if you missed this event. Also a list of those that donated time and items to make this event a success will be posted in the near future. A personal thanks to the Northeast Texas chapter of the GPAA folks for helping in the event and to Larry Vickers the Texas WWATS state director and several others that really got out and planted coins, setup hunt fields and many other things. Our next WWATS Rally and Hunt is planned to be larger and even better, so we have set that event in Durango, Colorado in the summer of 2008. Hope to see you there. Keith Wills

WWATS Rally and Hunts are coming up fast and we already have over 20 metal detectors to give away for the weekend and still adding to that list. It should be great weather and a fun time for the entire family. Get those entries in soon, for Oct. 7th is the early entry deadline to get you in the gold coin drawing and save you some money on entry fee. Also remember, if you wait to register at the gate it will cost you a $20.00 late fee at the site. You can still download the entry forms at: www.wwats.org . The Northeast Texas GPAA Chapter has added a gold panning demo, lessons and contest to our list of activities at this event, come and learn. They will also have their dredges set-up in the river if your interested in learn more about dredging for raw gold. I will be at the Cowtown and Lone Star club hunts coming up, if you wish to be kind enough to donate to this wonderful FREE Hunts weekend, you can bring your donations there and I will also allow early entry for anyone wanting to sign up at the hunts for WWATS weekend (pay by check, cash or silver dimes for Sunday only "Pay Hunt" at WWATS). Remember the great fellowship we have enjoyed the last three years in this event and look forward to another great time and a load of great prizes and coins to be won and found at this years WWATS Rally and Hunts. This event is only possible because of your very kind donations, thank you! Also remember the importance of our Rally discussion at this event of the state of which our hobby is in across the country and what is needed to assure it's good future for us all. We need your input at this important Rally, so please plan to attend. Thanks, Keith Wills, president
