Just wanted to say to anyone new or old to the hobby if you have never participated in a WWATS sponsored hunt you are missing lots of fun.

Keith Wills, here in Texas, really knows how to make a hunt fun. I have been trying to get my equal half (spouse) to join me in this hobby for years, he finally accompanied me on the recent K river hunt held in Oklahoma this May, and while not yet "hooked" he had a great time and is still bragging about his finds and token wins. Such will go a long way in my favor next time I say, "Lets go metal detecting". Any thing that had that positive impact on this "nothing new under the sun" guy is saying a lot.

Of course I am still bragging about my finds and goodies, to include the Whites Prizim detector I got in a drawing. I have been to two other hunts here and will always return.

As I told Keith I think FINALLY (after close to ten years of hunting sporadically when I could convince anyone to accompany me ) I got the hang of these "hunts". I have greatly increased my detector skills due in large part to these hunts, and the valuable info the various club members ,participants and others have shared.

If you have never participated in a competitive or group hunt, the K river hunt is a good place to get your feet wet, as it is not the usual fast paced, people all over the place and in your face, type hunt.

While there is competition, it is all somewhat slow paced and friendly. And for those of you that are skeptical about people really finding gold jewelry, rings and diamonds in the ground, trust me, it happens as such occurred in during this hunt. The ground does hold gold, and nice jewelry too.

The fun you can have at one of these hunts is hard to describe.....kinda like an adult Easter egg hunt with prizes. Skill, luck, and determination and fortitude to compete with seasoned hunter and newbies alike, not to mention the elements of heat and pesky bugs, and at times rock hard terrain make these hunts truly a earn while you learn experience. Keith always has great prizes, and sense of fun, and fairness that makes these hunts so much fun.

You just can't be around this guy without learning something.

Nearly everyone goes home with something, even if it is a sunburn and new knowledge of the hobby, or a new friend, a great time is had by all.

Please continue to support this organization, they do many many good things for our hobby. If you can spare a few bucks pass it along to support the folks who do so much to support us and our hobby.

I know many involved in WWATS also hunt for gold, which the K River has, but to me the gold I found was the good time, the wonderful people, great food cheap, and the friendships that have come from attending these hunts. Truly a treasure without measure.
