I understand now what you want. As I said earlier there are ways
around having to read every story and picking out the important words from
the story. Let the computer do it for you. It works a lot faster. It will
take a while to enter the data but you can cut the time it takes by
about 70% from having to read every story yourself. Let the computer do the
work. Here is my email address.
radwen@comcast.net If you have AOL Instant
Messenger MikeTreasure You can get me
faster that way. My email is ckecked every 5 minutes and AOL is on 24
hours. Mike |

What I need is: Someone comes along and asks: "In Northern
Arizona, in 1886, two hunters found a strange Blue Rock
"! So! Where do I look ? 1.. No. Ariz...Look under, The area
concerned, ( Found In, Ten magazines... IE: Magazine's
Name, Vol.#, Issue #, pg. # ) 2..1886.. Look under, The
Date, (F.I., Ten Hundred Magazines) 3..Blue Rock.... Look
under, Item Type; Strange Occurances/rocks (F.I., Two
Magazines) Etc.! There is No Story...Therefore! There's No
Copyright Infringement! ____________________ cptbil & Bugs |

If you plan on selling it then you can't put the whole story in
there. COPYRIGHT. There are faster ways to get the information. You can
scan the story into the comeuter, then there is software that will grab
what it thinks are the most important for and index. A person could weed
oup the unimportant words from the list. and then import it to the database
giving you a list of the most important words for each story. And the
database would contain the words and tell you what magazine, book, and page
number of the story. Then you would be able to got to the magazine, book
and look it up. A person would not have to read each story and write down
the important words and then enter them in the database cutting the time to
do one story way down. There are ways to cut down work if you know what
todo. Mike |

LowRider: As a TH'er/prospector, I want to know the
information myself! In case I am in that/an area..... I can
bring up any stories/legends! BUT! Who in the
world!, is going to have the TIME to read !
then, writeup! , all of these
thousands of stories/legends onto the
computer! That
is, One of the
reasons ! That I have NOT untaken this epic work! I
literally have stacks of mags, three feet high...still
unpackaged... Most of, The mags, when I got/get
them, were/are all bundled up, &/or wrapped in
plastic, in 12's (a years worth of issues) OR! As In,
The Hardback binders of 24 issues! I figured out, from
looking/reading just a few random issues, Many of which are
collector issues, being, Issue One Number One! Anyway! There are
8-10 (minimum) stories in each
issue... These are, The
Featured stories, usually 5-8, then most of the mags have a
"question & answer" section (more information on a
site/story, etc.)! That section, runs 3-5 more stories
! So! Lets say, 10 stories per
magazine/issue...! AND! That I have 1000 magazines
! That's 10,000! Stories to
read and write up! BUT! There
is market for this, Selling the/a disc, and, OR!
Specific information! ____________________ cptbil & Bugs |

North eastern part of Atlanta Georgia in a town called
Lilburn. The program you are describing is a simple database with
advanced searching. The hardest part would be shoveling all the data into
it. Are you thinking of putting the whole story into the database or just a
cross reference to the magazine, page, book the article is in? The easiest
way would be to put the whole story in the database and seach the whole
story for the specified words I think also the quickest way to do it. If
you want to cross reference the you have to read each story and pick out
the words that you think somebody might search for and that would require a
lot more time to do. Mike |

Mike: Where are you located? I'm down here on the Texas
Gulf Coast! I live out in the country, on a few acs., myself
! I have a project that I have been thinking about.. I have
several thousand books, mags., etc.. on TH'ing ! I have
been thinking about coming up with a program to categorize
all of the information.. IE: Name of persons involved, type of
treasure, gold, silver, coins, ore, bars, etc.. Area of the
legend/story.. the date, a mine or a cache or robbery ...
etc.. So! That a person could check with an inquiry, typed in
on the computer, about a certain area, IE: Central
AZ. Or The name of a person , IE:
Jacob Waltz Result, would be: "The
Dutchman", Central Az. , Lost Dutchman Mine, Superstition Mnts., ____________________ cptbil & Bugs |

I can do internet searching pretty good but I have not tried doing
research like the kind you want. I just never had any real need to. I would
be willing to try and see if I could do it. I am mostly into computer
programming. I am working on special equipment to attach to my wheelchair
right now that will allow me to do metal detecting from my chair. It's
a bit hard to do working with only one hand, but I am getting it done. I
hope to go metal detecting this summer. Maybe find a civil war
bullet. I am only as mobile as my wheelchair allows me.
I do good just getting around our 3 acres. I generally spend most of my tim
working at the computer. Mike |

Sorry To hear! I thought that you might be
mobile! ARE YOU ! Interested in Prospecting
&/or Treasure Hunting? If so, you can become involved by doing
Research ! I spend as much time doing research as I
do in the field! I had a "researcher" who lived in Arizona, But!
He's out of the business now! He would do some research, on a
story/legend and I would head out and check out the leads that he
found! I would take alot of photos of the search area, camp,
signs/marking, etc & send them to him ! Almost like being
there! ____________________ cptbil & Bugs |

Lowrider: I have been thinking about working the
mine... BUT! TOO NOT! Hard! Just! A few hours, or so, a
week! The mine is presently an open trench. I am following a
surface vein. Think you could handle, a few hours of pretty easy
work? I usually, camp in a grove of trees just about 1/2 mile from
the mine! If the mine begins to pay off... I am thinking of
putting up a small building, (MillSite) You could make a few dollars
... The Gems that come out of the Mine, are "Museum Quality"! They are on display
in The School of Mines, Socorro, NM And, U of A, Tucson
! If you're interested let me know! ____________________ cptbil & Bugs |
