For people that have trouble bending or reaching something there is something called a reacher.You can find them in most drug stores and places like Walmart. They come in short, long, even folding. There are a few different styles out there. I find that the ones with suction cups on the end are very good at picking coins and stuff off the ground or floor.

They can be bought for less than $15 and make reaching easy for anyone.
